Privacy Policy

Travel Africa Magazine is a trading name of Gecko Publishing Ltd, which is the data controller for all personal information collected via this website.

1. Data protection

This privacy policy governs the use of the Website travelafricamag.com (the “Website”).

This website (travelafricamag.com) uses a database to store personal information. This website is created by and is the sole responsibility of Gecko Publishing Ltd. This privacy policy exists to inform our Users of the existence of this database and how it is operated.

2. Our use of your personal information

Information on Users is collected by Gecko Publishing from contact forms and subscribe forms on the website and are obtained by Gecko Publishing for the sole purpose of delivering the services offered via the Website; including providing information, responses to enquiries and other relevant services that may be of interest to the User.

3. Optional and compulsory information

Fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the contact form must be completed in order for requests to be processed. The other fields are optional.

The user guarantees that the information provided is truthful and is responsible for informing us of any changes and keeping it up-to-date.

4. Newsletter and electronic communication

Gecko Publishing does not use spamming techniques and will only deal with information that the User provides through the electronic forms on the Website or by email.

The use of information of a personal nature and the sending of electronic commercial communications comply with the current Data Protection Act and all its amendments.

4.1. Email Marketing:

Gecko Publishing sends users who have given their prior consent, either through a contact form, subscribe form or the checkout on this website, a newsletter that includes the most relevant information and news related to Travel Africa Magazine. We do this using a CRM tool called MailChimp. For more information, see the Mailchimp GDPR statement. The user can unsubscribe from these email communications through a link at the footer of the email.

Gecko Publishing will send electronic commercial communications with information on products, services and events that may be of interest to the User when expressly requested. Consent to receiving these communications can be cancelled at any time.

4.2. Digital Advertising:

We use Google Ads to promote our products through search engines. We track interactions and conversions from our Google Ads campaigns using Google Analytics. Personally identifiable information is recorded only when users give their prior cookie consent on this website (See section 8. Cookies). All Google Analytics activity falls within the bounds of the Google Analytics Terms of Service and the Google Tag Manager Terms of Service.

We also use the Meta platform for running targeted Facebook/Instagram ads for marketing purposes to promote our products. We track purchases from these digital ads through third-party analytics tools. This includes Meta events, which use the Meta Pixel and CAPI (Conversions API).

The Meta Conversions API uses ‘Advanced Matching’ to record personal information from customers who have completed a purchase on our website. This helps match purchasers with actual Facebook/Instagram users for more accurate conversion data and shows ads to relevant users. The personal information collected by Meta may include: First/Last Names, Phone Number, Email Address, City, Region, and Postcode. For privacy protection, this personal information is hashed when transferred to Meta via the Conversions API. This data is collected without asking for a user’s prior cookie consent, only when a user makes a donation using the donation form on our website. The API is designed to honour Facebook’s user privacy controls. For example, if people use Meta’s Off-Facebook activity privacy tool to limit whether their off-Facebook activity data is associated with their Facebook accounts, those privacy choices will extend to the data connected using the Conversions API.

5. Data sharing

Please be assured that we will not, under any circumstances, sell or share your data with anyone for marketing purposes and you will not receive offers from other companies or organisations as a result of sharing your personal details with us.

We may need to share limited information with our service providers who help us to prepare and send you our communications and other responses. However, we will not allow these organisations to use your data for their own purposes and will take care to ensure that they keep your data secure.

This website uses contact forms protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
