The African fish eagle belongs to the sea eagles genus (Haliaeetus), which also includes the American bald eagle.

Known for its trademark yodelling call, this striking raptor is emblematic of rivers and lakes across sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds primarily on fish, as the name suggests, but may also snatch anything from young crocodiles to water birds. Mike Unwin reveals the secrets to its success.
