Winner: Dancing Elephant by Skye Meaker, South Africa. Photograph taken: Amboseli Game Reserve, Kenya “At first these elephants were just walking towards me, but as they came closer they started to push each other and eventually started fighting. This was my first experience of seeing them in combat and I was worried that they might knock our vehicle. The two males fought for quite a while and eventually started to wander off as quietly as they’d arrived. I like this picture because it looks as though these two bulls are dancing with each other. I love the dust being kicked up as they moved on the ground, pushing each other.” Technical details: Canon EOS 7D / 100mm / ISO 800 / f8 / 1/125s / E 0.0
“While on safari in Kenya, Masai Mara Game Reserve, we were lucky enough to see a river crossing. When we first arrived at the crossing site, the first wildebeest had just jumped into the river. A zebra followed shortly afterwards. Little did I know that there were crocodile on the sand in front of us. I then saw a crocodile swimming towards one of the zebra. I checked my camera with excitement. Still holding the shutter down, I thought of how lucky I was to see this happening right in front of me.” Technical info: Canon EIS7D / 365mm / ISO 200 / f8 / 1/640s / E +0.7
“While on an evening game drive in the Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana, we were lucky enough to spot this young leopard walking in a dry river bed. Suddenly he changed direction and walked straight towards me before turning to jump up the steep riverbank. That moment gave me an opportunity to capture this photo.” Technical info: Canon EOS7D / 400mm / ISO 1000 / f5.6 / 1/400s / E -0.7
