Lex Hes is a safari guide and photographer who leads safaris all over the African continent. He's an expedition Leader for Zegrahm Expeditions out of Seattle and co-owner of Safari for Real, a small company specialising in bespoke safari experiences into Africa for discerning nature-lovers who are looking for real connections with the African wilderness.
Lex is an author and nature photographer with five books to his credit, including the highly-acclaimed Leopards of Londolozi. He previously co-owner of EcoTraining, Africa’s top safari-guide training company.
Lex worked as a guide, wildlife film photographer and camp manager at the world-famous Londolozi Game Reserve in the Kruger National Park area of South Africa for 15 years. He's done biological work on the sub-Antarctic islands of Amsterdam and Marion and has led tours to Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Madagascar. Lives in Nelspruit, South Africa with his wife Lynn and has two grown-up children.
Lex’s main aim (apart from just having a great experience) is to try and teach his clients about the importance of Africa’s ecosystems and the world’s natural cycles.
